What is the Publisher's Vault?
The Greenwich Workshop’s private collection of Artist Proofs and Editions that have long been Sold Out at the Publisher. These editions have shown strong collector demand on the secondary market, some trading now for 30 years! Only one or two pieces are available on most of these offerings.

What are Artist Proofs
and why are they so sought after?
Artist Proofs, in the early days of printing, were the first color approved prints of any run. They were the sharpest and therefore the most desirable of a run (because the press plates would wear over the course of the run). Some of these proofs were often given to the artist as payment for signing the lithographs and became a subset of each print run, available only to the artist and publisher.
        Artist Proofs are valuable for a number of reasons. First, their place as part of an artist or publisher's private collection often means they have been stored as opposed to displayed. Second, there are vastly fewer of them. Their rarity as a special subset of a given edition increases their value. Finally, when an edition is sold out and secondary-market is established, Artist Proofs’ market value often rises at a much greater rate than the rest of the edition.
