We saw many lions between the Ngorongoro Conservation Area and Serengeti National Park and often heard them roaring near our camp in the night. In a remote area to the south there is a place called Mawe ya Simba (Lion Rocks) where the plains fall away into lower, broken country. In the distance we saw what looked like a herd of animals moving in file across the plains. As we got closer, we realized that these were lions returning from a hunting foray.
