Flittens™ Books & Bisques

Discovered by Captain Katt while exploring the Amazon Basin, he sailed to the region hoping to find a new species of winged cats amid the gaily colored butterflies and parrots native to the region. Studying the jungle canopy as he walked, the Captain literally stumbled upon a colony of “Felinas adornas,” a ground-dwelling species.

Habitat: Booted Bandits make their nests in abandoned burrows made by other small animals in the forest or garden floor.

Habits: Felinus adornus are irresistably drawn to brightly colored or shiny objects. They collect these “treasures” and carry them to their burrows, which they are constantly redecorating–inside and out. Using brightly colored feathers, or tiny bits of glittering rock, a colony of these creatures can be a dazzling sight to see!

Likes: They like nothing more than a celebration, where they find themselves captivated by wrapping paper, brightly colored ribbons and glitter. They have been known to steal back to their nest with any bright object that strikes their fancy.

Dislikes: Dull parties.

Migration: Felinus adornus has inhabited the Manor House and tend to make their indoor homes in any closet or drawer use to store holiday wrappings or ornaments.

Laura Von Stetina
Laura's yard is filled with the flowers and plants she grows as subjects for her botanical and wildlife paintings. Her house is populated with the stray animals she has always welcomed. One notable was a stray cat that bestowed the family with kittens. Laura was so taken with their special skills that she observed them keenly, often sketching them in detail. While checking on them early one morning, she was amazed to discover they had sprouted wings! Thus was the inspiration for her series of "Flittens" which are imaginately enchanting as well as botanically and anatomically correct.
Laura's impressive credentials include a solo exhibit at the Cleveland Museum of Natural History, participation in exhibits at the Cleveland Museum of Art, numerous awards from the Cleveland Society of Nature Artists among many others. Laura's love of nature has also included teaching and natural history museum work.
