| This painting was done from a scene virtually outside Howard’s studio in Connecticut during the winter of 1975. The artist has a great love of painting snow and particularly the way it lays on rocks. The sensitivity of his touch is astounding in this work as the upper encampment scene, glowing from an overcast sky, meets the deep shadows and reflected lights in the lower half. |
