33 and 34. The Enoch Altarpiece (left wing, interior panel).
by James C. Christensen
29 x 17.5 each

The angels on the wings of the altarpiece bless the scene and the symbols at their feet describe the divine plan. At the feet of the Angel in the left panel we see fruit with a serpent, a clear representation of the Garden of Eden and Fall of Man. On the right, the symbol at the Angel’s feet is a skull with an Easter lily growing out, symbolizing the triumph of Christ over Death and the Fall of Man. The City of Enoch in the altarpiece was described as “a city of surpassing beauty radiating the light of truth and righteousness, the fruit of souls who were at one with God’s plan.”
